Google bans eight different Tory election adverts as disinformation concerns mount
Conservatives accused of using ‘fake news’ and disinformation to win election

The move by the search giant comes amid mounting concerns about the Tories’ use of disinformation and fake news as campaigning tools at the general election.
Transparency data released by the search giant this week shows that the adverts “violated Google’s advertising policies” and had been removed.

Six of the banned adverts were put up by the Tories on the day of the Labour manifesto launch – when the Conservative Party set up a fake website called labourmanifesto.co.uk purporting to contain the opposition’s policies.
During that incident, the Tories paid Google to push its fake version of the Labour manifesto to the top of search results for those searching for the deal document. ...

Boris Johnson was personally warned about risks of freeing terrorists but said there was ‘no money’ to deradicalise them, ex-top prosecutor says
Damaging claim comes as solicitor for London Bridge attacker says he asked for help to turn away from terrorism – but was not given any

A former top prosecutor says he personally warned Boris Johnson about the risk posed by freeing terrorists who had not been deradicalised, but was told there was “no money”.

The hugely damaging claim came as the solicitor for the London Bridge attacker revealed he had asked for help to turn away from terrorism while in prison, but was not given any.

(ca. 5:00). Das war mal wieder ein Eigentor.

Also dann nochmal. Diesmal ohne ablenkendes Bildchen. Fuer die diesbezueglich mit attention deficit gehandicappten:

"All right, but apart from the crashed currency, the price rises, the normalisation of lying, the worsening trade gap, the increase in hate crime & violent crime, the undermining of parliament, the splintering of families, the loss of high-income jobs, the threat to peace in Ireland, the shortage of farm workers, the further alienation of Scotland, the weakening of our science base, the loss of health cover in 27 countries, the higher phone charges when travelling, the loss of GDPR protection, the uncertainty in Gibraltar, the loss of doctors and nurses, the loss of influence in the world, the soaring debt, the €60 bn bill, the massive distraction from other issues and the international derision..,
what harm has Brexit ever done to us?"

Boris Johnson looks to avoid damaging Trump meeting during NATO gathering
People close to the U.K. prime minister have told the White House that now is not the time for a formal meeting between the leaders.

Johnson’s political calculation marks a hiccup in a relationship the White House had billed as so close it would pay policy dividends on multiple fronts and more tightly align the two countries. It also underscores the delicate balance world leaders try to strike when it comes to Trump. ...

A survey in the U.K. from Nov. 2018 to Nov. 2019 found 67 percent of people have a negative opinion of Trump, according to the international polling firm YouGov in London.
A formal meeting typically would generate images of the leaders together, public statements about the bond between their countries and questions from reporters about their relationship that could complicate Johnson’s campaign message. ...

A decision not to have the two men meet represents a notable omission on Trump’s schedule in London both because the two men are considered so close, but also because it’s unusual for a U.S. president not to meet one-on-one with the leader of the country hosting an international summit.
Johnson also is hosting a meeting on Tuesday with the leaders of Germany, France and Turkey that’s focused on Syria, and Trump is not scheduled to attend despite the U.S. military role in Syria. ...

Wie viel ehrlicher ist da Nigel Farage, der einfach sagt, er möchte sein Land außerhalb der EU sehen "and to get on with our lives in an independent Britain". Naja, Ehrlichkeit war noch nie so die Sache der Progressives.

John Major breaks Tory ranks as he urges young voters to stop Boris Johnson's Brexit plan
Former Prime Minister urges Britain to 'vote with your head and your heart'

Sir John Major will tonight call on millions of young people to use their votes to derail Boris Johnson’s Brexit plans in an extraordinary general election intervention.
The former Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader will break ranks with the party he once dominated with a plea to Britain’s youth to “choose the future you believe in”.
“Tribal loyalty has its place,” he says in a message that will infuriate Downing Street. “But sometimes you need to vote with your head and your heart. For your country and your future. This is such a time.”

His call comes in a video message for tonight’s Final Say campaign rally which will be held in London under the banner “Stop The Brexit Landslide”.
Sir John, who remains one of the most popular Conservative figures, endorses three rebel former Tories standing against their old party and praises fellow ex-Labour premier Tony Blair and Lord Heseltine, both backers of a second referendum.
