Carlson Hemorrhaging Advertisers After Offensive Comments
Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s recent comments about white supremacy being a “hoax” have driven off yet more advertisers from his show, leaving him with significantly fewer commercial spots than he had this time last year.

According to the New York Times, the August 20, 2018 show had 16 minutes of ads; last night’s had just over 13 minutes, many of which were Fox’s own promotions.

Many companies have reportedly stayed with the network, citing unbreakable contracts, but have distanced themselves from Carlson’s show.

It started Tuesday when Fox legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano told Smith on-air that Trump committed a “crime” by pressuring Ukraine’s president to get dirt on Biden. That night, Carlson brought on former Trump lawyer Joe diGenova, who called Napolitano a “fool” for claiming Trump broke the law. Yesterday, Smith lashed back, calling Carlson “repugnant” for not defending Napolitano on air. (Trump himself is said to turn off Fox at 3 p.m., when Shep Smith airs.) The ultimate referee of this fight will be Lachlan Murdoch. My dad’s been my hero for a long time.

...My dad has led an interesting life. He’s a Vietnam veteran, and in the 1960s, he was a staunch Democrat. Vociferously anti-war after he was discharged, he became an activist- even ending up on one of J. Edgar Hoover’s COINTELPRO lists. He was also a mover and shaker of some note in the Iowa Democratic Party, a staunch Eugene McCarthy and Bobby Kennedy supporter who never got over the “backdoor, smoke and cigar filled room” way that Humphrey badgered his way to the nomination in ‘68.
Then, he followed the same line too many farm and rust-belt Democrats did, something my friend Sarah Smarsh details beautifully in her book, “Heartland: A Memoir of Working Hard and Being Broke in the Richest Country on Earth”:...
