Glenn Beck compares tech's ban on Trump to Nazis putting 'Jews behind the wall'
Conservative commentator and founder of TheBlaze Glenn Beck said Tuesday that President Trump’s exile from social media following last week's Capitol riots is like a "digital ghetto," comparing it to "Germans with the Jews behind the wall."

Appearing on Fox News, Beck told host Tucker Carlson, “The government and high tech need each other. So this — with the implosion of trust, they have to join hands. And it's extraordinarily dangerous.”

Yes, by All Means, Let the Healing Begin
Here’s how it could start.

It has been deeply inspiring to hear so many important Republicans calling for a time of healing, for an end to division, for unity. From House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, to Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel, to Marco Rubio (“our political divisions have gone too far”), to Lindsey Graham (“it is past time for all of us to try to heal our country and move forward”), these voices of reconciliation must be given the due respect they have earned over the past weeks, to push back against any notion of bringing the nation together after a divisive election season. (Apparently, the sight of a mob nearly turning the Capitol into a killing ground caused a reassessment of sorts.)

So let us take them at their word. Let us provide them, and their colleagues, the opportunity to becalm the troubled waters.
Here’s how I imagine it might go:

At a joint press conference, a dozen or more of the most prominent figures in the “Stop the Steal” movement gather. There’s Kevin McCarthy, Rep. Steve Scalise, Newt Gingrich, and a claque of Fox News primetime anchors. (Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley are at a separate table, because no one will agree to sit with them.)

“We are here to ‘revise and extend our remarks,’” McCarthy begins in an attempt at congressional wit.
“Joe Biden is president-elect. He won. Donald Trump lost. This has been the case since a few days after election night. There was no fraud worth speaking of; the courts from one end of the country to the other have thrown out every claim of irregularity. To our eternal regret, many in my party, out of ignorance, delusion, mendacity, or fear of our own constituents, endlessly repeated outright lies emanating from the fevered mind of our delusional president, whom we never should have nominated in the first place. This helped create the climate for the most violent assault on the Capitol in 200 years. I am ashamed personally, and for my party.”

Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell is next.
“While I urged my colleagues to accept the electoral vote count, I bear heavy responsibility in spending the last four years ignoring the increasingly lunatic actions and rhetoric of the president. As long as he gave me my judges, I turned away from the behavior that culminated in a presidentially triggered riot. In the interest of unity, I am asking the various committee chairs to move swiftly to put President-elect Biden’s economic and national security team in place as close to January 20th as possible.”

Newt Gingrich rises—slowly, with great difficulty—to acknowledge that “as a world-class historian, I knew better than to embrace the mad-as-a-hatter fantasies of the president. It’s not as if I have the mental acuity of Louie ‘Bag of Hammers’ Gohmert. But I was too busy selling my books, CDs, and commemorative coins to think about the harm I was doing to the country. I am now offering a ‘Collector’s Item’ special of videos and pen holders in honor of Joe Biden’s inaugural, just call this toll-free—”

When Gingrich has returned—slowly, painfully—to his seat, Senators Hawley and Cruz take the podium together.
“Of course we know the truth,” they recite together. “We are two of the smartest, best-credentialed senators ever: Stanford and Princeton, Yale Law and Harvard Law. But our joint lust for the presidential nomination unmoored us from any sense of decency. We are resigning our seats and—like the British politician John Profumo, who left in scandal and spent the rest of his life doing charity work—we intend to spend the coming years doing menial labor for the Little Sisters of the Poor, while engaging in prayerful meditation so that we might somehow become less reprehensible human beings.”

A few moments later, after the Fox News primetime team pledges a vow of silence, the gathering ends. And peace and tranquility settle upon our divided land.

Neo-Nazi Accelerationists Celebrating Attack on Congress As Start of Civil War
Online neo-Nazis are ecstatic with the violence taking place on Capitol Hill, many believing this to be the moment to kick off a "race war."

As far-right rioters stormed Capitol Hill, neo-Nazi accelerationists are celebrating the current moment as the beginning of the end of the U.S. and the start of a “Second Civil War.”
“This is a moment that has been in the waiting for a long, long time…” said one post shared and seen close to 600 times on Telegram, an encrypted chat app favoured by neo-Nazis and other members of the far right. “Today is better than Christmas,” said another.

Many of the online accelerationists, who believe acts of terror can lead to the collapse of Western governments, see today’s actions by Trump supporters as the moment violence will be accepted by mainstream conservatives. ...

Biden to announce vaccination plan, economic rescue package in evening address
His plan is expected to include the $2,000 relief payments he's proposed.

In an address Thursday night, President-elect Joe Biden will announce his vaccination and economic rescue legislative package amid the continued COVID-19 pandemic, expected to the first major legislative push Biden will undertake when he assumes office next Wednesday.

The package is expected to lay out Biden’s plans to fund vaccinations across the country, and provide direct relief to families and communities struggling amid the economic downturn caused by the pandemic that has afflicted the country for nearly a year.

Help Is On The Way As Biden Introduces Massive $1.7 Trillion Stimulus
The Democratic Senate wins in Georgia have allowed President-Elect Biden to introduce a huge $1.7 trillion pandemic relief package.

Here are just a few of the highlights from the Biden transition team fact sheet as provided to PoliticusUSA:

– Give working families a $1,400 per-person check to help pay their bills, bringing their total relief payment from this and the December down payment to $2,000. More than 1 in 3 households — and half of Black and Latino households — are struggling to pay for usual household expenses like rent and groceries during the pandemic. In this crisis, working families need more than the $600 per person that Congress passed last year. President-elect Biden is calling on Congress to increase that direct financial assistance to $2,000. An additional $1,400 per person in direct checks will help hard-hit households cover expenses, spend money at local businesses in their communities, and stimulate the economy. ...

Ebenfalls:

Then again, some changes will happen no matter what.

A) There are facts that did not exist in 2015 that exist now, such as the Islamic Republic's progress in advanced centrifuge development and that it now has two underground facilities, where before it had only one.

B) None of this means that US sanctions will be removed on January 21.

Biden to sign executive orders rejoining Paris climate accord and rescinding travel ban on first day
President-elect Joe Biden plans to sign roughly a dozen executive orders, including rejoining the Paris climate accord and ending the travel ban on predominantly Muslim countries, on his first day in office, according to a memo from incoming chief of staff Ron Klain.

He'll also sign orders halting evictions and student loan payments during the coronavirus pandemic and issuing a mask mandate on all federal property in an effort to either roll back moves made by the Trump administration or advance policy in a way that was impossible in the current administration.

Beyond executive actions in his first days in office, the memo outlines that Biden plans to send Congress a large-scale immigration plan within his first 100 days in office. The plan would offer a pathway to citizenship for the millions of undocumented immigrations currently in the United States.

The acting secretary of defense is trying to install a Trump loyalist as the top lawyer at the National Security Agency, according to three sources familiar.

Christopher Miller, who just two days earlier said he couldn't wait to leave his job, ordered the head of the NSA to install Michael Ellis as general counsel by 6 p.m., Saturday, but NSA Director Gen. Paul Nakasone did not act by the given deadline, leaving it unclear what Miller or the White House would do.

https://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/sozial...3c-c952d27c605a

This Time, There May Not Be a Do-Over
Historically, great civilizations self-immolate before they suffer external defeat. Often the seeds of decline are planted at a time when a great power seems to be at the pinnacle of its control and influence. Though it may be hard to accept, this seems to be increasingly the fate of America today, where a toxic mix of ever-more unaccountable elites, frayed internal culture and class warfare, and inflamed racial divisions has begun to splinter the most successful democratic republic in history into a nation of warring tribes.
The United States seems poised to emerge from the rubble left in the wake of the last four years diminished, showing traits normally associated with unstable third-world governments. ...
