Jeffrey Epstein’s cellmate — a former cop charged with quadruple murder — told authorities he came to the perverted multimillionaire’s rescue after he attempted to hang himself, alerting correction officers and possibly saving his life, a source told the Daily News Friday.

A law enforcement source confirmed the cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, claimed to have helped Epstein after finding him unconscious. Investigators were still trying to determine if an assault had occurred or if the sex offender facing up to 45 years in prison had in fact tried to take his own life, the law enforcement source said.
“You’ve got a guy who is a millionaire who is now living among rats and mold and wants to go home,” the source said.

“This is a disgusting place and the people there, they treat you disgusting. Who wouldn’t be suicidal in that kind of place? You have a silver spoon in your mouth and then you’re put in a cesspool.”

A chilling picture emerged Friday of how hundreds of girls and young women were allegedly trafficked for sex to a number of wealthy business, political and world leaders by Jeffrey Epstein and his madam, Ghislaine Maxwell, as nearly 2,000 court documents were unsealed in a federal civil case in New York.

The documents, the largest cache to be released in the 13 years since Epstein’s case began, offer brutal details about Epstein’s trafficking of teenage girls in Palm Beach, New York and overseas — as well as Maxwell’s obsessive and often abusive quest to provide him with new girls over a span of years in the early to mid 2000s.

Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced millionaire who was facing federal sex trafficking charges, died by suicide early Saturday in his Lower Manhattan prison cell, three law enforcement officials told ABC News.

Epstein hanged himself, law enforcement sources said. He was transported in cardiac arrest at 6:39 a.m. from Metropolitan Correctional Center to New York Downtown Hospital, according to sources.

Epstein, 66, was set to stand trial next year for allegedly sexually abusing dozens of minor girls in New York and Florida.

Democrat calls for congressional investigation after Epstein death
Rep. Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) on Saturday called for a congressional investigation into a former plea deal for disgraced billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein after he reportedly died of an apparent suicide in his Manhattan jail cell.
“The death of Jeffrey #Epstein does not end the need for justice for his victims or the right of the public to know why a prolific child molester got a slap on the wrist instead of a long prison sentence,” Frankel tweeted.
“With the obvious end to criminal proceedings against Epstein, it is important that the US House Committee on Oversight and Reform begin its investigation,” she added.

Epstein accuser: 'Justice must still be served'
A woman who accused disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein of raping her when she was 15 said Saturday that officials must continue pursuing his associates in an alleged sex-trafficking ring following reports of his apparent suicide in a Manhattan jail.

Jennifer Araoz told CNN in a statement that Epstein's suicide made her "angry," as he will no longer have to face his accusers in court, and said federal authorities must continue to pursue those who may have aided Epstein in his alleged activities.
"I am angry Jeffrey Epstein won't have to face his survivors of his abuse in court," Araoz said. "Epstein is gone, but justice must still be served. I hope the authorities will pursue and prosecute his accomplices and enablers, and ensure redress for his victims."

Jeffrey Epstein was, to the core soul, a narcissist. As a narcissist he was driven by self interest first and foremost, but when things don’t go his way, his focus turned to revenge. For years Epstein has been collecting “dirt” on his associates- secretly recording their liaisons with underage girls and creating “files” on his friends and enemies alike. He used this as both leverage and blackmail. It allowed him to get away with his crimes for years. This indictment must have felt to him like a huge betrayal....

Upon hearing that convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein had been found unresponsive in his cell in a federal lockup in Manhattan Saturday and was pronounced dead at a hospital later, many observers—including people who had accused the 66-year old multimillionaire of molestation, rape, and coordinating the sex trafficking of underage girls and young women—sadly figured the case was over. But maybe it’s not. JIm Mustian, Michael R. Sisak and Michael Balsamo report:

"The federal investigation into the allegations remains steadfast, U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman said. He noted in a statement Saturday that the indictment against Epstein includes a conspiracy charge, suggesting others could face charges in the case."

What “steadfast” will actually mean in practice remains to be seen.

Earlier it was erroneously reported that Epstein had been taken off suicide watch just hours before he was found in his cell. Authorities said he apparently hanged himself. Even Attorney General William Barr said he was “appalled” by the death and said there were many questions about it needing answering. He called on the Department of Justice’s inspector general to carry out an investigation.

Nobody Will Ever Believe the Official Story on This
Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his jail cell Saturday morning.

How in the hell do they let this happen? The guy was incarcerated in the Manhattan Correctional Center. He already had made one try. He had to be on suicide watch. And the suicide happens the day after a massive document dump in which a woman who said she was one of Epstein's victims implicates an entire brigade of celebrity "clients," up to an including some European royalty? There almost can't be a dog more reluctant to hunt than this one.

A whole bunch of Somebodies need to get fired behind this. Beyond it, of course, a thousand conspiracy theories will now bloom across all the Intertoobz. The other people involved have to be nervous. Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's alleged accomplice who has yet to be charged, has to be looking over her shoulder. Is she looking over her shoulder to see if the FBI is back there, or to see if something darker is closing in? This country is losing what's left of its mind.
